A youth has been charged after being caught with cannabis in Ferryland.

On Sunday, around suppertime, Ferryland RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Route 10 near Calvert. The vehicle had been speeding, the RCMP said Monday.

The male driver, who was a youth, was found in possession of cannabis, according to police. He was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for speeding and charged under the Cannabis Control Act for possession of cannabis under 19 years of age.

RCMP remind the public that a person must be over 19 years of age to possess cannabis.
