Firefighters present award to Telegram photographer

Telegram photographer Keith Gosse was at the St. John’s Regional Fire Department’s Mount Pearl Station Friday afternoon to receive the second-place award in the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Media Awards news photography category.

The award was announced in December, and Gosse received the certificate from IAFF Local 1075 president Craig Smith Friday. Gosse’s entry was one of 315 entries in the category and placed second, only behind an entry from the Boston Globe.

The winning entry showed two St. John’s Regional Fire Department firefighters enveloped in a cloud of smoke during the former Belvedere orphanage fire in April 2017.
