Newfoundland and Labrador’s oldest active union will welcome the first two female members in its 115-year history on Wednesday.

Goulds’ Michelle Follett and Paula Snelgrove of St. John’s will become members of the Longshoremen’s Protective Union during a women’s recognition event in St. John’s.

Speakers include prominent women from the labour, business, and non-profit sectors, as well as the province’s Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, MHA Siobhan Coady.
