Funeral set for Saturday for seven Barho children killed in fire

The funeral for the seven Barho children will be held Saturday afternoon at the Cunard Centre in Halifax.

Four-month-old Abdullah, Rana, 3; Hala, 4; Ghala, 8; Mohammed, 10; Rola, 12 and Ahmed, 15, were killed in a Spryfield house fire on Tuesday.

Doors are to open at 1:30 p.m. with the service to start at 2 p.m., Ummah Masjid and Community Center said in a Facebook post on Friday morning.

The funeral proceedings will follow Islamic traditions and “is open to people of all faiths and members of the public.”

Parking will be available onsite and at in the Develop Nova Scotia lots on the Halifax waterfront.

Shuttle services will also be provided by Ambassatours Gray Line from various locations.

The Cunard Centre, on 961 Marginal Rd., has a 2,200 seating capacity and 3,500 standing capacity, according to its website.

A burial at the Muslim Cemetery in Hammonds Plains will follow the service.
