The Deer Lake resident and teacher said in a press release that he will be seeking the nomination for the district once it is called.

Pelley said he has been involved in the political scene since his early teens and has considerable experience working with members of the PC Party, including three who went on to become premier.

Pelley said he has been considering offering himself as a candidate for a number of years and now the timing is right for him and his family.

“I will represent the people of this district, bringing forth to the House of Assembly the challenges and issues that are unique to the residents of this area,” said Pelley in the release.

“I will be a strong voice for the constituents and I will work tirelessly to connect and listen to all people, in all communities, bringing forth their concerns to ensure continued growth, development, and sustainability. I will build on the relationship I already have with constituents from each community and develop a strong working relationship with elected municipal officials. We will work together to continue to ensure economic and social sustainability for each community of the Humber Valley District.”
