High winds wreak havoc in Bonavista

Winds to gradually diminish this evening

A garage on Cape Shore Road owned by Bonavista Cabs went up in flames on the afternoon of Thursday, Nov. 15. Members of the Bonavista Fire Department had to contend with high winds as they battled the fire, but the blaze is under control. No word yet on the extent of the damage.

UPDATE: RCMP confirm there were no injuries in today's fire.

Both the garage and a nearby home were damaged.

An investigation is ongoing.

EARLIER STORY:Severe winds continue to batter the Bonavista Peninsula heading into Thursday evening, Nov. 15.

Environment Canada predicts gusts of between 110 and 130 km/h, that will gradually diminish.

Videos and photos of turbulent seas and damaged property have been shared across social media throughout the day.

Power is currently out in parts of Bonavista and Keels.
