Toru Shimoji Seminar
Power Karate Academy invites you to participate in a weekend seminar, featuring in-depth lessons with world-renowned instructor and international kata champion Sensei Toru Shimoji, beginning Friday evening and continuing through Saturday and Sunday at the Manuels River Interpretation Centre. Friday evening is a black belt session from 7:30-9 p.m. Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. are youth sessions for ages eight and younger. From 11 a.m. to noon is a mediation and energy class which is open to the public. From 1-5 p.m., advanced sessions for ages nine and older. On Sunday from 8-10 a.m., advanced sessions for ages nine and older, then grading until noon. Seminar cost is $120 for advanced and $50 for youth ages eight and younger. Join art educator Jason Sellars for an evening inspired by still life artists and their works in The Rooms collections. Learn about the works of Mary Pratt, Grant Boland and Helen Parsons-Shepherd, then try your hand at a series of drawing techniques used by artists.

Science Rendezvous 2019
Come out and get hands on with science, technology, engineering and math. You might event have fun, too. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. staff, students and faculty at Memorial University will have interactive exhibits for the public to view and try as they put off Science Rendezvous, an annual national celebration of science, technology and engineering that takes place coast to coast. The Ocean Science Centre will be here with their touch-tank, the Chemistry Magic Show is back, Bricks 4 Kidz will be in engineering, and we're very excited to have the faculty of medicine taking part for the first time with their Body Works display, as well as Placentia Bay Ocean Debris Survey, which will show you exactly how much garbage is really in the ocean. It's free and great for young and old alike.

Join us at Quidi Vidi Brewing Company for a night of fun, music, and great food and drink as the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra presents Pork & Pints. La Rose des Pop
La Rose des Pop is the French choir’s spring concert, featuring French popular music, with special guests Étienne Gendron on percussion and Maude-Julia Blanchet with her own interpretations of works by the great French singers. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Centre des grands-vents. Tickets ($18 and $14, free for those under age 10) are available online, from the Francophone Association office and from choir members. It'll be a fun night for all, with a cash bar and a reception after the show.
