Despite a hope the Main Street Bridge route would be re-opened by the end of November, the City of Corner Brook is now saying weather delays have pushed the completion date back to late next week, if not the following week.

This means this Saturday’s Santa Claus Parade, which normally crosses the bridge as it courses its way through the downtown core, will need to be re-routed. The city is working with the Corner Brook Kinsmen Club to approve an alternative route.

The approach slab on the eastern side of the bridge still needs to be finished, along with the installation of some retaining walls and decorative lighting, before the bridge can be re-opened.
