Marble Mountain parking lot loaded down with heavy equipment to be auctioned off Thursday

The world’s largest industrial auctioneer, Ritchie Bros., has set up shop at the base of Marble Mountain in Steady Brook for its latest event.

The company’s first-ever auction in western Newfoundland, happening Thursday, will feature equipment from more than 20 local contractors.

The parking lot at Marble Mountain is jam-packed full of excavators, dump trucks, graders and more.

According to a news release from Ritchie Bros., the selection of late-model, well-maintained equipment is open to the general public for bidding.

One of the local contractors, Mike Kelly & Sons Ltd. of Howley, said it has around 70 pieces of surplus equipment it no longer uses up for grabs at the auction.

Some of the equipment highlights in the auction include:

A 2017 Metso Lokotrack LT220 crawler cone crushing plant

A 2014 Metso Lokotrack LT106 crawler jaw crushing plant

Two 2012 Caterpillar 374DL hydraulic excavators

Two 2016 Caterpillar 336EL hydraulic excavators

Two 2015 Caterpillar 980M wheel loaders

A 2015 Komatsu WA200PZ-6 wheel loader

A 2016 Caterpillar D6T XW dozer

A 2016 John Deere 772G motor grader
