ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — The Department of Fisheries and Land Resources announced Wednesday it is accepting applications under the Provincial Agrifoods Assistance Program (PAAP) and Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP) for community pastures, which provide grazing land and enable livestock farmers to produce winter forage and increase herd sizes.
A news release states that in 2018-19, $237,508 was provided through both programs to fund 11 community pastures in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Maximum funding available under the Provincial Agrifoods Assistance Program for land development and agriculture infrastructure is $30,000, of which $15,000 can be used for agriculture infrastructure.
Under the Canadian Agricultural Partnership, community pastures are eligible for funding for rough-clearing new pasture land with reimbursement up to $1,500 per acre and reimbursement of $1,500 per acre for land enhancement of new pasture land.
The Canadian Agricultural Partnership is a $3-billion, five-year program by federal, provincial and territorial governments to help Canada’s agricultural sector innovate, grow and prosper.
