Hark, what’s the noise out by the…lake?

More than 40 people dressed as mummers – wearing pillow cases over their heads and bras over their shirts – ran along the slushy, snow-covered trail around Quidi Vidi Lake on Saturday.

The First Annual Mummer’s Run was a fundraiser to help the Les Ms. Choir travel to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City. They are one of five choirs from across North America selected to perform at the prestigious venue this March.

The choir plans to make the Mummer’s Run an annual event, with future funds going to causes such as The Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation Patient and Family Support Fund. Over the past 20 years, Les Ms. has already raised nearly $150,000 for that fund, which helps patients and families with travel and housing costs incurred because of their treatment.

Despite running in the snow, participants enjoyed decent weather with light drizzle and temperatures around 3°C.
