Newfoundland and Labrador Crime Stoppers is putting a call out for people to nominate an outstanding police or peace officer for their annual Police and Peace Officer of the Year Awards (POYA).

POYA honours enforcement officers in the province who perform beyond the call of duty both on the job and in the community.

Anyone can nominate a police or peace officer by visiting www.nlcrimestoppers.com.

Nominations are accepted until March 21.

People might automatically think about Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers, but peace officers also include professionals from a wide range of organizations, including Canadian Border Services Agency, Fish and Wildlife, Canada Revenue Agency, and several others.
