CLARENVILLE, N.L. — The Royal Canadian Mounted Police say they have arrested a suspect in yesterday's carjacking and assault in Clarenville on Tuesday.

EARLIER STORY

A 65-year-old woman in Clarenville was reportedly assaulted during a carjacking Tuesday.

It happened just before noon on Manitoba Drive, where an unknown man was said to have gotten into the woman’s vehicle, assaulted her and tried to take her purse before driving off.

Police are searching for the man and vehicle.

The man is described as having a tattoo on the left side of his neck and was wearing a black leather jacket.

The vehicle is described as a four-door, gold-coloured 2006 Ford Focus with licence plate JHR 486.
