Perry Bungay, a 54-year-old Port au Port man charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, was released from custody when he appeared in Stephenville Provincial Court this morning.
According to a prepared release from the Bay St. George RCMP, it was about 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday that they were called to a disturbance at a residence on Main Road in Port au Port.
Following an investigation into the incident Bungay was arrested and charged.
In court he was released on an undertaking to stay away from victims, to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, a prohibition from possessing weapons, not to enter the property where the incident took place and to advise the RCMP before leaving the province to go to work.
Bungay’s next court date has been set for Aug. 27.
