Newfoundland Power is reporting power outages across much of the island portion of the province this morning.

According to the company’s outage centre, the power interruptions started at approximately 11:30 a.m.

The affected areas are listed as St. John's/CBS/Mount Pearl/North East Avalon/Southern Shore and vicinity; Whitbourne/Conception Bay North/Cape Shore and vicinity; the Burin Peninsula; Sunnyside/Clarenville/Bonavista Peninsula and vicinity; Gander/Glenwood/Twillingate/New-Wes-Valley and vicinity; Grand Falls-Windsor/Baie Verte/Springdale/Buchans/Lewisporte and vicinity; Corner Brook/Deer Lake and vicinity; and Stephenville/Port aux Basques.

The cause has been identified as the result of a loss of power supply from NL Hydro.
