GANDER, N.L.

The first of nine in-person consultation sessions in advance of the 2019 budget is being held in Gander tonight.

It will take place at the Albatross Hotel from 7-9 p.m. with Health and Community Services Minister John Haggie as the hosting minister.

During the process, the provincial government is seeking public feedback on priority investments and discussions on how government can sustain the momentum created over the preceding three years.

An online component also recently opened. Members of the public and industry stakeholders can visit www.engagenl.ca/engagement-initiatives/2019-pre-budget-consultations to provide feedback.

Any stakeholder wishing to provide a more detailed submission is encouraged to submit a written submission by email at [email protected].

“Since 2015, our government has taken significant action to address years of financial mismanagement by the previous administration and built a solid foundation for economic growth,” Finance Minister Tom Osborne said in a release.

“Today, we are better positioned to capitalize on the exciting opportunities that exist in our province. I encourage all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to contribute to the discussion on how we can sustain the momentum that has been created.”

The other in-person sessions are being held in Corner Brook, Grand Falls-Windsor, Marystown, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Wabush, St. John’s, St. Anthony and Mount Pearl.
