Project Bruin, major drug operation on west coast, results in two arrests

Raymond Patrick McLean, 38 years of age of Stephenville; and 32-year-old Shamus Kenyon Harris of Corner Brook have been arrested under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act through an investigation called Project Bruin.

The two are each facing charges of: two counts of trafficking cocaine; two counts of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking; and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon.

It was on Thursday of last week the Bay St George RCMP, with the assistance of Western District Serious Crime Unit, Police Dog Services and the Emergency Response Team made the arrests.

The same day, investigators executed a search warrant at the residence of McLean on Russell Heights in Stephenville where approximately half of a pound of cocaine, a quantity of crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, cell phones and over $12,000 in cash was seized.

Both men have appeared in court and were released with their next court date scheduled for Nov. 26.

The investigation remains ongoing and further arrests are anticipated.
