The Corner Brook Care Partnership, led by Plenary Group, has been selected to design, build, finance and maintain a new long-term care facility that will be located in Corner Brook and serve all of western Newfoundland.
Premier Dwight Ball announced the partnership as the successful proponent at the Corner Brook Long-Term Care Home on Friday morning.
The new facility will include 120 long-term care beds, as well as 15 palliative care beds and 10 rehabilitative care beds.
On site activity will begin in the coming days, with construction to begin in the spring 2018 and the facility is set to open in spring 2020.
The new long-term care facility will require upwards of 200 public sector employees, providing valuable services such as nursing care, laundry, housekeeping and dietary.
The value of the contract with Corner Brook Care Partnership is approximately $120 million. The contract will cover a 30-year period.
Other members of the Corner Brook Care Partnership team include Montgomery Sisam Architects, Marco Services as the builder and G.J. Cahill as the service provider.
This new facility marks the beginning of construction on a new Western Memorial Regional Hospital campus in Corner Brook. A request for qualifications for the new hospital is expected to be announced before the end of the year.
