CORNER BROOK, N.L. — Hundreds of people gathered around Remembrance Square in Corner Brook on Monday morning to be a part of the annual Remembrance Day ceremony.
The event started with a parade down West Street to the square where the Act of Remembrance was read and the veterans who have died in the past year were honored.
Despite the rain that fell during most of the ceremony the crowd stayed and watched as wreaths were placed at the base of the cenotaph.
At the end of the ceremony, as is the tradition, those who participated and watched place their poppies on the cross.
Later in the afternoon the Corner Brook Long Term Care held its Remembrance Day Commemoration.
Second World War veterans Robert Grant, Ches Verge and Harry Pinsent, all residents of the home, each played a role in the event.
