ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Motorists are urged to use extreme caution when exiting the St. John's area via the TCH due to a load of crushed stone spilled on the highway just past the Islander RV building.

Provincial Highway Enforcement officers have the passing lane closed due to the spill and they are awaiting clean-up crews to arrive to remove the stone and gravel from the highway.

The left lane is expected to be closed for a few more hours and the speed limit is reduced to about 25 km/h.

A tractor-trailer spilled the load from his truck earlier this morning and the rig has since left the scene.
