The Stephenville and Kippens Fire Departments are again holding a joint firefighter recruitment event.

Mayor Tom Rose brought up the event at the regular general meeting of the Stephenville town council on Thursday at noon hour, noting that first responders are “very, very important in any community.”

Stephenville has auxiliary firefighters, while Kippens has a completely volunteer fire department. The auxiliary members bolster the full time career firefighters in place in Stephenville.

The event takes place on Nov. 16 from 2-9 p.m. at Days Inn in Stephenville.

There’s no experience necessary and interested people are asked to drop by to see what becoming a firefighter entails.
