STEPHENVILLE, N.L. — STEPHENVILLE, N.L. — Stephenville town council approved four items under finance at its regular general meeting held Oct. 17.
An accounts payable listing for September 2019 totaling $301,719.30 was approved.
Council approved a donation of $250 to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 35 for its 2019 Poppy Remembrance Campaign.
Council agreed to provide a grant of $2,500 to Go Western Newfoundland for 2020 marketing initiatives.
Council approved a grant in the amount of $20,000 to Stephenville Gardens Corporation.
Coun. Mark Felix, finance committee chairman, said this brings the total of grant money to the Stephenville Gardens Corporation to $120,000 for this year. He noted, however, work has been done to upgrade the Stephenville Dome facility and the town will revert back to a $100,000 grant in 2020.
