A teenage boy got himself into some trouble after lighting a chair left on the curb for garbage collection on fire in Corner Brook Tuesday night.
According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s 24-hour report issued Wednesday morning, the call was that the chair had been lit on fire on poplar Road.
However, The Western Star found remnants of a burned-out chair on the curb of a residence on nearby Caribou Road.
Police said a 14-year-old boy was found to be responsible for the incident. He was given extrajudicial sanctions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
This week is the City of Corner Brook’s bulk garbage collection phase of its annual spring clean-up program and residents have been leaving larger discarded items on the curbs for pick-up.
