Q. Do you believe there is more that can be done to combat climate change in Newfoundland and Labrador? Explain.

A. There will always be more that we can do to help combat climate change. Although I have not encountered this issue at the door thus far, it remains a significant issue. The Liberal government is being proactive and has just this March launched a five year action plan on climate change. This plan includes working with the Federal Government to create jobs in a green economy. The plan will also lead to reduced green house gas emissions and will build on resilience to climate change impacts.

Q. What is your primary legislative priority should you be (re)elected?

A. I have seen first hand people suffer concussions in sports so I am excited that the Liberal government is making Rowan's Law a priority. This law is aimed at governing the handling of concussions in sport. We need to make sure that rules are enforced to reduce the occurrence of concussions. We need to ensure that anyone who may have suffered a concussion is removed from play immediately and do not returned until cleared by a doctor.

Q. With the death rate exceeding the birth rate, outmigration remaining prominent, and an aging population, what is your top priority to address demographic challenges in N.L.?

A. By providing more child care spaces and by the creation of new jobs we are encouraging people to stay in the province. Newfoundlanders and Labradorians know that this province is a great place to live and raise a family and the fact that we are facilitating their remaining in the province is a great start.

Q. Are changes needed to the existing tax system in Newfoundland and Labrador? If so, what specifically should change?

A. It would be ideal if there were no taxes but we cannot operate a government without them. The Liberal government realizes that our residents have carried the burden and are committed to reducing taxes as it is feasible to do so. This year the tax on automobile insurance will be eliminated and the tax-reduction levy will be removed.

Q. Do you have any conflicts of interest that would need to be addressed upon (re)entering the House of Assembly?

A. No
