Q. Do you believe there is more that can be done to combat climate change in Newfoundland and Labrador? Explain.

A. Our Government was pleased to launch a climate change action plan earlier this year. We believe that we need to put measures in place to help encourage people to become more energy efficient. Government are doing things such as putting charging stations for electric cars across the province and making our own buildings more efficient. Our plan will reduce emissions and create jobs.

Q. What is your primary legislative priority should you be (re)elected?

A. I am pleased with many pieces of legislation we have already put in place to protect people, it is the policies that protect people that are most important to me. Some of the legislation that will be early in our new mandate will include items such as automobile insurance improvements and those that deal with unlicensed drivers.

Q. With the death rate exceeding the birth rate, outmigration remaining prominent, and an aging population, what is your top priority to address demographic challenges in N.L.?

A. We must continue to create opportunities to keep people here as well as attract new people to our province. We have had nine consecutive months of year over year job growth. We have achieved this by diversifying our economy. By growing industries such as the aquaculture, agriculture and tech sectors as well as oil and gas and mining we are creating the those opportunities.

Q. Are changes needed to the existing tax system in Newfoundland and Labrador? If so, what specifically should change?

A. A balanced approach to creating a solid fiscal footing for the province while reducing taxes as the province is in a position is what we need. We have committed to reducing and eliminating taxes in a responsible manner. We have removed the tax on auto insurance in budget 2019, this year the levy is gone. We will continue to look for opportunities.

Q. Do you have any conflicts of interest that would need to be addressed upon (re)entering the House of Assembly?

A. No I do not.
