Weapons and drugs seized during Bay St. George arrest

Bay St. George RCMP have charged three men from Mattis Point and St. George’s with robbery with a firearm and other Criminal Code offences.

In a prepared release, police said it was about 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 30 that they responded to a report of a robbery involving a firearm that occurred near the Stephenville Crossing Gut Bridge.

As a result of an investigation by Bay St George RCMP, with assistance from the RCMP Serious Crime Unit and the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Police Dog Service, investigators have arrested and charged the three men.

They include 36-year-old Donald Matthew King of Mattis Point; 22-year-old John Joseph Marche of St. George’s; and 27-year-old Trevor Peter Russell of St. George’s.

Investigators seized a number of items in relation to this incident, including replica firearms, weapons and a quantity of cocaine, hash, cannabis resin and methylphenidate (ritalin).

Police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
