CORNER BROOK, N.L. — Minor hockey coach Jamie Brake is going to trial on a charge of assault.
Brake, 43, who is also the mayor of Meadows, was not present in provincial court in Corner Brook when his case was called on Tuesday morning.
His lawyer, Robby Ash, appeared on his behalf and entered a not guilty plea to the charge.
It’s alleged that Brake was one of two men involved in an altercation in the parking lot of the Corner Brook Civic Centre on March 5.
Brake was charged with assault in April, following an investigation into the matter by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
Brake had been the coach of the Corner Brook Royals bantam all-star team at the time of the alleged incident. He has been suspended from his coaching duties by the Corner Brook Minor Hockey Association pending the outcome of the prosecution of the charge.
Brake’s trial will take place on Nov. 25.
