A York Harbour man accused of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 18 will go on trial on the charge May 14.
Timothy Russell Sheppard, 47, entered a not guilty plea to the charge and a one of breach of probation during an appearance in provincial court in Corner Brook on Tuesday.
Sheppard has a history of violence and sex offences and is currently being held in custody on a consent remand.

He appeared in court via videoconference and was represented by lawyer Sandi MacKinnon, who was acting as agent for Conor Mullin.
The sexual assault, which is alleged to have occurred Dec. 19, 2017 is one of 11 charges Sheppard is facing.
He also entered not guilty pleas to three other breach of probation charges, a break and enter and uttering threats from January. He’ll go to trial on those charges on May 14 and 15. In all three separate trials will take place on the two days.
He has also pled guilty to four other charges: two counts of fraud, one count of possession of stolen property and break and enter. These charges are alleged to have taken place between July 2016 and January of this year.
Facts and sentencing on those charges will take place following his trials.
