CORNER BROOK, N.L. — The man accused of an armed robbery at a Corner Brook gas station last spring has been committed to stand trial on three associated charges.
Randy Biggin, 25, still had no lawyer when his preliminary inquiry was called at provincial court in Corner Brook Tuesday.
During the latest of his numerous court appearances leading up to the inquiry, Biggin was chastised by the courts for not making enough of an effort to retain legal counsel.

He indicated during his last appearance in January that he was trying to arrange a private lawyer, but had to represent himself at the preliminary inquiry Tuesday.
Besides armed robbery, Biggin was charged with being disguised with intent to commit an offence and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose in relation to the incident at the Ultramar gas station on Mount Bernard Avenue in Corner Brook last April 28. It was alleged he held up the store at knifepoint in broad daylight and robbed the business of an amount of money.
He was arrested a short time after the robbery.
He will now be arraigned on those three charges in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador sometime in the near future.
Biggin actually has a second preliminary inquiry scheduled for provincial court today.
He was subsequently charged with breaking into Targett Trucking in Massey Drive and stealing gas two weeks prior to the alleged armed robbery.
