NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR
CANADA

A 31-year-old man has a court date on Dec. 11 to answer to charges of impaired driving.

Yesterday evening, Sept. 18, around 6:20 p.m., St. Anthony RCMP responded to a report there was an overturned vehicle off the road on Route 430 near the branch to Cook’s Harbour.

According to a RCMP release, police found no one inside or around the vehicle upon arrival but learned a lone man had left the scene and had been dropped off at a business in St. Anthony.

Police found the man a short time later and arrested him for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Breath samples he provides were nearly twice the legal limit for alcohol in the blood, the release indicated.

The man was not injured in the crash. The vehicle was damaged considerably, however.

The man was given a licence suspension and released this morning.
