BAY ROBERTS, N.L. — A woman suspected of trying to abduct her son and leave the province was arrested this morning.

Bay Roberts RCMP received a complaint from the boy’s father, who said the boy’s mother took him after school. The man informed police he believed she was taking the boy across the island to catch the ferry and leave the province.

RCMP officers across the province, the RNC in Corner Brook, Marine Atlantic and the Labrador Marine Ferry service in St. Barbe, were advised of the situation.

Port Saunders RCMP located the woman at the ferry terminal in St. Barbe at around 10:30 a.m. this morning.

She was arrested and has since been released from police custody on conditions. She’s scheduled to appear in provincial court in Harbour Grace on Aug. 21 and could face charges of parental abduction.
