The bear trap set up in the Pratt Street last week has been removed, but there are still traps set in other parts of the Corner Brook area.

Traps were set after multiple reports of black bear sightings in and around the city late last week.

According to the Department of Fisheries and Land Resources, there have been no new reports of bears in the Pratt Street area and the trap there has been taken away.

A trap has been set near the Watson’s Pond Industrial Park, though, after a black bear was reported crossing the Lewin Parkway in that area this past weekend.

A trap set in the town of Massey Drive last Friday was still in place as of Tuesday morning. There have not been any new sightings reported, according to the department, but conservation officers are continuing to monitor this vicinity as a precaution.
