It’s not determined for sure if it was a cause, but there were at least two accidents reported during the widespread icy conditions that affected the Corner Brook area Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

At 7 p.m. Wednesday evening, there was a two-vehicle collision on Valley Road, which resulted in moderate damages to both vehicles. One of them had to be towed from the scene.

No one was hurt and the police file made note that road conditions were icy at the time.

Thursday morning, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to a report of a vehicle off the road on Route 440, the highway to the north shore of the Bay of Islands.

According to the police, the vehicle had been abandoned and police were looking to speak with its owner about what had happened, including whether the icy roads were a factor.
