CARBONEAR, N.L. — Blood donor clinics in four provinces will be held next Tuesday in memory of a young man from Riverhead, Harbour Grace who died unexpectedly earlier this year.

Steven Trickett passed suddenly while competing in the Ottawa Marathon on May 26. The 35-year-old was married and had a young daughter. According to an obituary, his wife expects to give birth to a second child in August.

On Tuesday, July 16, Canadian Blood Services will hold donor clinics in Carbonear, St. John’s, Halifax, Ottawa and Calgary in memory of Trickett. In a new release issued Wednesday, Trickett was described as a caring and funny man who had a strong sense of adventure and was always a proud Newfoundlander. He lived in Toronto, Calgary and Burlington, Ontario, before settling in Ottawa and travelled around the world with his wife, as was chronicled in a Compass article published in 2014. According to the news release, he helped organize blood donor clinics while living in Burlington and was a regular donor himself.

The donor clinic in Carbonear will run from 12:30-3 p.m. and 4:30-8 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus on Adelaide Street. The St. John’s clinic will take place during regular operating hours at the Canadian Blood Services building on Wicklow Street.
