The 2019 edition of the Exploits Valley Salmon Festival was so well received organizers have decided to use the same approach for 2020.
In 2019, the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor introduced a format that ditched the high-cost headliner acts for which the festival had become famous, after losing money for three years in a row. In 2018 the festival lost $79,000.
Last year, the committee opted for a festival featuring local and provincial entertainers around five days of community events.
There was a smaller stadium concert with all Newfoundland talent and a series of other events that, according to council, drew rave reviews from audiences.
At its Dec. 3 council meeting the town voted to adopt the recommendation of the organizing committee to keep that same format for the 2020 Salmon Festival.
The Exploits Valley Salmon Festival is usually held in July.
More details for the 2020 event will be finalized in the new year.
