As if it wasn’t already damaged enough by fire, a home on Spencer Street in St. John’s was damaged even more early Wednesday after it was struck by fire a second time just over two weeks.

When firefighters arrived just before 1:30 a.m., there was heavy smoke coming from the home.
Platoon Chief Bob Hiscock of the St. John’s Regional fire department told the Telegram they had a hard time accessing the fire inside the home as all the windows and doors had been boarded up and they had to cut their way into the structure before they could start fighting the blaze.
He added there was a lot of fire and smoke in the house and they had to open up the roof to ventilate the home.
There was also no electricity to the home either and the fire is under investigation.
There were no injuries.
