Two pedestrians, both of them twelve-year-old girls, were struck by a pickup in Mount Pearl Saturday night.

The two girls were apparently crossing Old Placentia Road near the Shoppers Drug Mart in Mount Pearl at about 9:45 p.m. when the incident happened.

Both girls were taken to hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries but The Telegram was told that one of them did suffer a broken arm.

Eastbound traffic was diverted around the area as emergency personnel dealt with the scene.

A third pedestrian was also struck by a car in St. John’s about fifteen minutes before the Mount Pearl incident.

That collision happened at the intersection of Allandale Road and Elizabeth Avenue and sent one person to hospital with injuries that were not thought to be serious.

It was dark and raining at the time of both incidents.
