HOLYROOD, N.L. — A driver from Clarke’s Beach had his vehicle impounded and licence suspended after police allegedly caught him driving at an excessively fast speed.

According to a Holyrood RCMP news release, a report came in Saturday morning, April 13, about a driver who almost lost control of their vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway near the Foxtrap exit.

RCMP Traffic Services later clocked a vehicle matching the one previously described to police at a speed of 156 kilometres per hour near Salmonier Line. Following a traffic stop, a ticket for speeding more than 51 kilometres per hour over the posted speed limit was issued to the 23-year-old driver.
