Members of the Bay St. George RCMP were busy on Thursday responding to multiple reports of shoplifting in the Bay St. George area.

At about 9 a.m. on Thursday, police were advised a man entered the Esso Gas Bar in Stephenville on two occasions the night before and stole cell phone accessories and beer.

Around 2 p.m. the same day, police were advised a man had stolen cigarettes from Georgia Convenience in Stephenville.

Less than an hour later, RCMP Police Dog Services were on patrol when they observed a man causing a disturbance at Dominion Market in Stephenville. The situation was resolved, and police departed but had to return when it was reported the same man had attempted to steal a large amount of groceries. When confronted by store security, the man left the merchandise and fled the scene in a vehicle.

Then at about 3 p.m., Bay St. George RCMP were advised a man had stolen cigarettes from the Irving Gas Bar in Stephenville Crossing.

A few hours later, police were again contacted after a man entered Coleman’s Food Centre in Stephenville and stole several packages of meat products.

The investigation into all these incidents is ongoing.
