The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Labrador West Division has made an arrest in connection with a recent armed robbery.

On Saturday, Nov. 10 at approximately 9 p.m., RNC officers in Labrador City responded to a report of an armed robbery at Lake Side Convenience on Maple Crescent.

Witnesses reported that a lone male entered the store with his face concealed, armed with a firearm, and demanded cash. The male fled the area prior to police arrival with an undisclosed amount of money. There were no injuries as a result of the robbery.

A search warrant was executed by the RNC at a residence in Labrador City on the evening of Thursday, Nov. 15. As a result of that search and subsequent investigation, 27-year-old Johnathan Payne was arrested.

Payne has been charged with armed robbery, disguise with intent, various firearm related offences, and breaches of court orders.

He was set to appear at provincial court in Wabush Friday, Nov. 16
