ST. ANTHONY, N.L. – St. Anthony’s water system should soon be back to normal after there was an interruption in service that affected the entire town today, Nov. 16.
According to a post on the town’s Facebook page this afternoon, public works staff discovered around 11 a.m. ice was blocking the main intake at St. Anthony Pond.
Workers engaged a secondary intake to start water recovery to the community and used an air bubbler unit to remove the ice from the main intake, the post notes. Once that was done, staff re-engaged the new intake to service the community.
Water pressure is presently returning throughout the community. Home owners should run their cold water system to remove air and silt from interior lines, according to the post.
Residents are advised a precautionary boil water advisory will remain in place until further notice.
