A teenage girl was arrested Friday after she allegedly made threats toward Corner Brook Regional High.

According to a spokesperson with the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District, the school was placed in a secure school mode just before 12:30 p.m. when it was determined the girl was in the midst of a personal crisis and required external intervention.

The youth was retained in the administration area while officials waited for the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary to arrive. When they did, the girl was removed from the building.

The school board said the high school was in secure school mode for 10 minutes. It was done so to limit movement inside the building and to make sure students were safe.

The school district release does not say if the female was a student at the school or not.

The RNC confirmed the girl was arrested, although Const. Shawna Park would not provide any further details on the incident, including the name of the school, nature of the threat, the youth’s age or if she was a student at the school.

According to the school board, the individual has been charged with two counts of uttering threats against the school.

The incident remains under investigation by the RNC.
