GRAND FALLS-WINDSOR, NL – Eighty-seven-year-old Terry Goodyear is in very good company.
Goodyear is one of eight people who will be invested into the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador in St. John’s Jan. 31, an honour that “recognizes individuals who have demonstrated excellence and achievement in any field of endeavor and benefiting in an outstanding manner the province and its residents,” according to the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador’s website.
“I was very surprised, and I felt quite honored to have this award,” Goodyear told the Advertiser.
Since 2004, only 90 people have received the honor. The upcoming ceremony will be the 11th investiture.

“These eight recipients of the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador are certainly deserving of the honour, considering their significant achievements and the work they have done to promote their province and make it a better place,” Premier Dwight Ball stated in a press release.
“It will be a pleasure to celebrate their accomplishments in person.”

Goodyear has served on many boards and committees throughout his life. He has worked with the Corduroy Brook Enhancement Association, Big Brothers, Environment Resources Management Association, and served on the Hydro Board, the Atlantic Pilotage Society and was president of the Association of Professional Engineers.
Goodyear was also a founding member of the Central Newfoundland and Labrador Health Foundation, has served on the board for the College of the North Atlantic, volunteered for the Salvation Army Red Shield Campaign, and for 42 years, has been a member of the local Rotary Club.
He, along with his wife, will be traveling to St. John's at the end of the month to accept the award.
