STEPHENVILLE, N.L. — Bay St George RCMP received two complaints of suspected impaired drivers on Monday that lead to the arrest of two individuals for impaired driving.
The first report was received just after midnight.
Police were advised of a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road in Stephenville. The caller was able to flag the vehicle over to stop and contacted police.
Police arrived on scene and found the driver, a 56-year-old woman from the St. George’s area, was impaired by alcohol. While she was unable to provide breath samples, a blood demand was provided, and a sample was collected for analysis.
The investigation is continuing with impaired driving charges pending.
Almost 12 hours later, a second complaint was received reporting a single-vehicle collision that happened on the Trans-Canada Highway near Barachois Brook.
Police attended and located the driver, a 38-year-old man from Rose Blanche, who was found to be impaired by alcohol.
The man provided breath samples that were over the legal limit. His vehicle was seized, and his licence was suspended. He is scheduled to attend court on June 10 to face charges of impaired driving.
