ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the CIBC bank at the Avalon Mall just after 11 a.m. this morning.
Police say a man entered with a firearm, gave a note to one of the bank tellers and then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Numerous marked and unmarked RNC units are currently canvassing the area of the mall looking for the suspect, who is described as approximately six feet in height, wearing a neon orange hat and a brown/green shirt.
The bank is closed until further notice.
