Apparently one is just not enough.
What seemed like a quiet family dinner turned violent earlier this month after a teen in Florida allegedly attempted to stab her grandmother over a disagreement on the amount of tomatoes she could eat.
According to the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office , 19-year-old Katie Jade Gates was with her family when she became enraged after her grandmother complained the teen “wanted to eat more than her fair share of tomatoes at the dinner table.”
An incident report noted when she was denied additional tomatoes, the irate Gates became “disrespectful towards the other adults in the house.”
That’s when, police say, Gates threw a bottle of water at her grandfather, but missed. The 19-year-old then launched a pack of cigarettes which hit her grandmother in the face.
News outlet WOGX reported Gates then reportedly chased her grandfather around the home while brandishing a knife.
“Motherf—–, I’ll stab you in your f—— face,” Gates screamed, the incident report noted.
The teen allegedly continued to threaten her grandpa by making stabbing motions with the knife while cussing him out.
Cops arrived on scene and questioned Gates. She reportedly admitted to throwing the cigarette pack and picking up the knife but denied making stabbing motions.
Gates was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery on a victim over the age of 65.
The teen was released from jail after posting $18,000 bond.
