Gertrude Josephine Lewis (nee Stewart)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gertrude Josephine Lewis announce her passing on Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 86 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 57 years Roy; children: Laura (Todd) Wiseman, Brenda (Kevin Newhook), Toni (Bill) O’Brien, Roy Jr. (Maureen), Terry (Margie) and Shawn (Collette); grandchildren: Leslie, Emily, Amanda, Angela, Melissa, Mark, Jesse, Braeden, Riley and Sarah; great-grandchildren: Alex, Adam and Rylan; sisters: Josephine Bennett, Dora (Gerry) MacDonald; brother Alphonsus Stewart; sister-in-law Joan Sandy; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Felix and Mary Stewart of Rushoon. A special thank you to Denise Fewer. Gertrude was a longtime member of the Catholic Women’s League and the Saint Vincent de Paul Society. Friends visited Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Sunday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 6 at 10:00 a.m. from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mount Bernard Avenue with Father Edward Terry officiating.
