Corner Book, NL It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gladys Clare announce her passing at the WMRH on Friday, June 15, 2018 in her 87th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her husband Gordon (Waxy) Clare of 63 years; her children: Derek, Brian, Maureen (Earl) and Sean; her sisters: Valerie Cassell and Rhoda Howe; her granddaughter Maria Leonard (Nana’s Treasure); her step-mother Rachel McKay; her sister-in-law Sylvia Gillam; her brother-in-law Bob Short; her much loved nieces and nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Gladys was predeceased by her baby boy; her parents: Nelson and Trixie Gillam; mother and father-in-law Martha and John, (Jack) Clare; her sisters: Mary Short, Una Hulan (Rodney) and Verna Gillam; her brother Spencer Gillam; and her brothers-in-law: Ross Cassell and Warren Howe. At Gladys request, cremation has taken place. Visitation for family and friends will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Monday, June 18, 2018 from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral Mass will take place at The Most Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, Mount Bernard Avenue, on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 10:30 am with Father White officiating. Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery Montgomery Street. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society. The family would like to send a sincere thank you to Dr. Mark Smallwood, Dr. Eaton and the nursing staff of the Palliative Care Unit at WMRH.
