Carbonear, NL It is with great sadness that the family of the late Harold Janes announce his passing at Carbonear hospital on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019 at the age of 85 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his children: Sharon (Owen) Rowsell, Lynn(Harvey) Tulk, Leslie (Jean) Janes, David (Lucy) Janes, Juanita Collier (Paul Smith), Christopher (Kimberly) Janes; grandchildren: Stephanie, Sheldon, Danny, Joshua, Jeanna, Brittany, Michael, Bobbie-Jo, Taylor, Maggie, Gavin, 12 great-grandchildren; brother: Adolphus; sisters: Emma Sheppard, Mary Reid, and Glenda Tilley, two special friends Eileen and Carol, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth Janes, parents Eva & Arthur Janes, and nine siblings. Harold was a lifelong member of the Salvation Army in Labrador City and Deer Lake where he spent many years playing in the Church band and also a Corps Secretary there, he was also a member of the Lab West School board and a retiree with the Wabush Mines after 37 years. Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Road in Deer Lake on Tuesday January 22nd from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will take place at the Salvation Army Citadel, Deer Lake with Major Fred and Louise Pond and Major Owen Rowsell officiating, Internment to follow at the Deer Lake Interdenominational Cemetery on Wight’s Road. As expression of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or a donation can be made to the Salvation Army Church in Deer Lake, the cancer society or diabetic association of NL.
