Ronald Biggin

Remembering my Grandfather Ronald Biggin April 19, 1931 – August 12, 2019 Thinking of Pop as Fishing season comes to an end and Hunting season starts. For all my life, I lived worlds away, and unfortunately only got to spend time with Pop while visiting. Still, in that limited time he had a profound impact on my life. My grandfather’s legacy is one that encompasses many and engulfs so much of my own life. When I think of him, I think of an extremely talented hard working, caring grandfather. The one who was a great teacher, amazing fisherman & fantastic hunter. He followed the weather patterns more closely than world events. My love of the outdoors clearly comes from him. I have traveled to Daniel’s Harbour, Newfoundland and visited for many weeks of my life, no matter what country I lived in. I am not fluent in the Newfie Language but being a well photographed child its clear I have Newfie roots. I have many memories with Pop which I will always hold dear to my heart. After I moved to Canada, he visited our home multiple times. He was proud to have watched me play Hockey, Soccer, & Baseball, and wished he had the chance to watch me play football, which was my strongest sport. It would have been great to have him at one of my football games, but I would have much preferred to have spent more time fishing with Pop. While visiting ten years ago, Pop expressed one of his biggest regrets was a letter that was sent to our home in 2004. I still keep this letter in the Bible Pop brought in 2009. I will never meet you in Daniel’s Harbour, but no letter can keep me from meeting with you on the other side. Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Life is but a Dream! Love you forever and Always Tyler Lewis
